AVYT are very happy to announce our 2017 Summer Show!
With lots of brilliant show proposals the committee eventually came to the decision to bring Stephen Schwartz’s brilliant musical ‘Pippin’ to Tring!
A Brief Synopsis
Heir to the throne, the young prince Pippinis in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfilment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father, King Charlemagne the Great). Pippin searches for his purpose in life because he doesn’t believe that he could live an ordinary life. He believes that some lives were meant to be extraordinary and that his is one of them. Does Pippin find happiness where he seeks or perhaps in a more unlikely place? You’ll have to come along during the Summer to find out!
Audition Info will be released very soon, so keep your eyes peeled on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram (@avytheatre)
AVYT Project dates are the 30th July-9th August 2017 with Performances on the 10th-12th August 2017. We look forward to seeing you there to join us!
Parties, presents and panto – it must be Christmas time already! As 2016 draws to a close, we’re taking a look back at what has to be AVYT’s most spectacular year yet.
We kicked off our 2016 show season with a bang in February with “Standard Delivery”, where our improv troupe took to the stage to deliver a completely unscripted show, taking audience suggestions for scenes and games. This was a huge success and set the bar high for the rest of the year.
Shortly after, we held auditions for our big summer show, “The Producers”, which had our highest ever audition turnout and introduced us to many talented new members alongside lots of returning members.
Alongside casting the show and preparing for summer, we held our annual variety show, “A Night With AVYT”, in May. Many of our members, old and new, came together to perform a range of different acts for our audience and helped raise money towards the summer show.
We maintained our strong community ties throughout the year, and in June we performed our own version of “Alice in Wonderland” at the Hyde Heath Primary School Fete. That same month we also held our fundraising Quiz Night, which was a lot of fun and raised £200!
In July we began rehearsals for “The Producers”, our main summer show, which proved to be one of the biggest and most challenging shows we had ever taken on. Our cast, crew and production team worked insanely hard over two weeks to deliver an amazing show to the Court Theatre, which was met with a high turnout and rave reviews. It was a huge success, and most importantly, huge fun!
During our show run, we also held our second AGM, where members communicated their views and suggestions, and elected the committee for the next season. Hannah passed the role of Company Manager over to previous Assistant Company Manager, Darcy, and a whole new committee of old and new members was elected.
At the end of August we held a big tea party to celebrate AVYT’s 10th birthday, where those involved throughout AVYT’s history came together for an afternoon of memories, laughs, games and cake!
Although we’d finished our summer show, 2016 was far from over for us, and in the autumn we were invited to perform as zombies at a Halloween ball for charity, as well as given the huge opportunity to dance at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, supporting the Astor Big Band on their “More Miller Magic” tour. Both of these events were extremely successful, and great experiences for all involved!
To wrap up 2016, AVYT took to the airwaves as our improv troupe appeared on Radio Christmas, delivering a hilarious, completely unscripted show to help raise money for charity.
It’s onwards and upwards for AVYT and we have big things in store for 2017. And we’re always looking for new members – if you’re interested in joining us in 2017, feel free to get in touch using our contact form here, any of our social media, or by emailing email@example.com.
A huge thank you goes to all our members and supporters, and we look forward to seeing you again in the new year!
